Cookie policy
1. Purpose
This policy explains cookies and similar storage technologies on opendeal.ch and supplements the privacy policy.
2. Essential functions
Essential technologies support sign-in, session management, CSRF protection, security, cart, language and privacy choices. They cannot be disabled through the banner because the shop would not function reliably without them.
3. View statistics and optional enrichment
OpenDeal operates its own cookieless basic statistics independently of consent to optional cookies. Each HTML navigation uses an event identifier valid only for that page view. The data include the page path, referrer, browser type, viewport size, active visible dwell time, coarse location and visitor/bot classification. While the page remains open, dwell time is updated cumulatively in the internal database every few seconds. Without consent to extended analytics, no persistent analytics identifier is stored in the browser and no account association is made. Server-side identifiers are secret-hashed; the cookieless visitor identifier rotates daily and the session identifier uses 30-minute windows. If the local DB-IP Lite City database is available, country and an approximate city are derived from the public IP address; GPS data and movement profiles are not collected. Visitor/bot classification uses known crawler signatures and the headers of the actual HTML navigation; the dwell-time heartbeat never changes that classification. No external analytics provider is used. After explicit consent, extended analytics may additionally use a persistent visitor identifier, link multiple page views within a visit, evaluate extended browser characteristics and add an account association for signed-in users. Analytics data are retained for no more than 90 days. IP Geolocation by DB-IP.
4. Choice and withdrawal
Through “Cookie settings” you may object to cookieless basic statistics and enable or disable optional extended analytics. “Reject optional analytics” disables only extended analytics; basic statistics remain active until you explicitly object in the settings. Consent or an objection may be changed at any time. Storing this choice is an essential function.
5. Retention
The privacy choice is stored for no more than twelve months. Session and security cookies last only for the session or a limited security period. The cart is stored locally until cleared.
6. Browser controls
Browsers allow cookies and local data to be deleted or blocked. This may restrict sign-in, cart and other essential shop functions.
